J&K Keifer
Jim & Kathleen Keifer, husband and wife artist teamsters pair nostalgic and wonderful images from classic card games evoking memories past. Monopoly, LIFE, Scrabble...visions of Americana warm the heart with a clever focus on colorful palette and photorealism.

Born and raised in Chicago, Kathleen Keifer is a second-generation artist. She continues this legacy nurturing her daughters creative leanings, inspiring a third generation of female artists. Keifer is a modern landscape impressionist working in oil, acrylic and pastel. She was formally trained at St. Mary's College, the University of Notre Dame and in private studies with prominent artists.

Relocating to Southern California, Keifer was inspired by the regions light, color and interplay between the natural geography and the coastal culture. Kathleen Keifer greets each day in her studio to capture another fleeting moment on canvas; thus meeting the desires of her fans though new original, limited edition and fine art print releases.

Jim Keifer spent his childhood traveling the highways between the coast and mountain regions of California with his family. The young artist-to-be gazed for hours out the car window as the desert glided by. Years later, Keifer started sketching and painting with his daughters one vacation when they didn't want to fish anymore. “Once I started I couldn't stop...it all came rushing back. In every direction I saw a painting.”

Jim Keifer is also a talented cartoonist and designer, trained at the University of Notre Dame. His career path allowed him to nurture his whimsical side through creating fun products and games for Milton Bradley and Mattel. Beyond his striking landscapes, Keifer is now combining iconic images and irreverent humor into new paintings.

POP Gallery has recently collaborated with Hasbro licensed artists J & K Keifer on a piece reflecting Santa Fe's unique cuisine to benefit the hungry & homeless of Santa Fe. A portion of the proceeds from every "Green Chiles" sale will profit Bienvenidos Outreach serving meals to Santa Feans in need since 1989. New Mexico is 4th in the nation for food insecurity, with 15% of the state population not knowing where their next meal is coming from. 35% of these are children. Though Santa Fe has a reputation of being a wealthy city, the percentage of disadvantaged citizens mirrors the national rate. Your generosity and support will aid us in continuation of our work among the most needy, and be greatly appreciated. Michael & I thank you in advance for helping us make a difference in our community-together we can. -Michael McDowell & Sharla Throckmorton-McDowell, POP Gallery Owners
